About Excel Pickleball

Let us introduce ourselves. We are Excel Pickleball located in Las Vegas, NV. We started our business in 2021 when the whole world was upside down. It was our goal to provide people with an opportunity to get outside, have social interaction, and most of all, have some fun. This sport is unique to other sports because it is very social. Unlike other sports, you, as a single person, can go play a few games wherever you are. All you need is a location and your paddle. It takes about an hour to learn the basics of the game, and then you can start having fun.

Since our inception in 2021, we have hosted over 12,000 players across tournaments, leagues, and player development programs, all centered around Sunset Park. With a dedicated team and an unwavering commitment to enhancing player experience, Excel Pickleball continues to grow and serve the Las Vegas pickleball community.

Our Mission

Our mission is to bring players of all skill levels together, providing opportunities to compete, improve, and share in the excitement of this incredible sport. With a passionate team and a player-first mindset, we’re dedicated to growing the Las Vegas pickleball community and setting the standard for excellence in every aspect of the game.

People love pickleball. It’s all about community. Young or old doesn’t matter. When it comes to playing this sport, anybody can learn the game in a short period of time and start enjoying it. There are people in their nineties, and kids 6 or 7 years old, out on the courts having fun. It doesn’t take years of training and practice to get on the court and have a competitive match. Games are generally about 15-20 minutes long. You get off the court, put your paddle in line to play again, and away you go. Whether you choose to play outdoors or indoors, it’s simply addictive. Once you start, there is no turning back.

About The Owner

Tony Spurlin was introduced to pickleball in 2019 by a fellow volunteer at the Shriner’s Open golf tournament. Initially skeptical about the game, Tony quickly realized how much pickleball would impact—and even save—his life. After becoming hooked, he was recruited to help run the 2021 USA Pickleball Mountain Regional tournament at the newly built courts in Sunset Park, Las Vegas. Despite never having played in a tournament before, Tony was appointed Tournament Director for this major event.

To prepare, Tony competed in a dozen tournaments across Utah, California, and Arizona, leading him to a key realization: the player experience should be the priority in tournament management, a concept often overlooked by others. This insight gave birth to Excel Pickleball, which started by running tournaments but quickly expanded as Tony recognized the broader demand in Las Vegas for leagues, lessons, and clinics.
